Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Connection, curiousity and care. Individualization, integration and intersectionality.
We each enter the therapy space with our own identities - some shared, some different and all making up the unique individuals who are embarking on an exploration, together. You are welcome as you are.
My approach focuses on self-discovery, understanding, and self-love through exploration of your inner world and identifying connections across time and relationships. My approach is built on a foundation of liberation, bringing the impacts of systemic oppression, intergenerational trauma, and identities that are often stigmatized in therapy, openly into the room.
I view psychotherapy as a practice, not a treatment. It is through this practice that our therapeutic relationship will grow, and we will begin to understand together what impact your identities and experiences have on present day suffering. Our therapeutic relationship will provide a sturdy and supportive environment. We will use symbol via art, dreams, divination, etc. to help bring the unconscious into the room. Understanding leads to awareness, awareness provides choices, choices enable change.
I trained at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy in Toronto (CTP). CTP is an intensive 6-year program which prepares trainees for the emotional competence needed to safely support clients psychodynamically. Beyond theoretical training, the program is experiential. I have pursued my own growth in therapy for the past 10+ years and come to the practice of psychotherapy at a mature age following the transition from a successful 25-year career in consulting and organizational leadership. I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT) and the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH) which is committed to the practice of Health at Every Size® (HAES®) principles.
