Jenna McClelland, MA, Therapist in Training
MA, Therapist in Training
Our relationship will be the container for our work together, so it is important that you choose a therapist with whom you have an affinity. My approach relies on my experience that the healing power of the psyche can be rediscovered within a nurturing, non-judgemental environment.
I am a Relational Depth Psychotherapist in Training, which means you and I will attend to your dreams, sensations, body feelings, fantasies and thoughts as pathways to the unconscious. Like compost, the places where we experience decay are often the very sources of new life. Chronic illness, depression, anxiety and conflict in relationship – among other symptoms and symbols – are the calls we heed to deepen our connection to ourselves. Self-reflection comes easier with the help of an open and attuned psychotherapist, allowing us to return to our own creative integrity.
My trauma-informed psychodynamic training at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP) is a unique one as it prioritizes the academic in balance with the experiential, and provides one of the most intensive, long-term therapy programs in Canada. Beginning with my own health crisis, I have been in my own therapy for 10+ years, which grounds my work and presence. I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT), and completed a summer intensive program at the Jung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland.
