Orlando’s approach emphasizes helping individuals understand themselves better in order to live more fully in the world and to lead more meaningful lives. Orlando believes that understanding oneself is the key to successful living.
“Feeling that the therapist sees you is the way that we can begin to grow and to live life in an authentic way. We need to feel that the therapist is reflecting back who we are. Providing an environment of understanding, respect, and confidentiality is the basis for a successful therapy.”
Orlando’s approach to therapy is based in psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as mindfulness and Buddhist perspectives. In addition to working with clients who come to therapy with diverse issues, Orlando has worked intensively with grief, loss, death and dying; and concerns particular to LGBTQ individuals. Orlando has an MSW from New York University’s school of social work and is a candidate at the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis.
